Intrepid Travelers Experience a Real Amazon Adventure Tour in Iquitos

We werent looking for a 4 star lodge but rather a real jungle adventure! Well, disipite our fears of tarantulas, snakes and caimans we have survived our 6 day jungle adventure.

Our two fearless guides, Alex and Lucho, soon put an end to our initial worries with their energy, enthusiasm and professionalism. Arriving at the lodge was a plesant supprise - no other gringos, satellite TV, or 4 poster beds. Instead a warm friendly staff offering the essentials in a tropical jungle environment.

For our trip we decided to hire a canoe to take us up the river a further into the river for 3 nights of camping. This was a good decision considering our lack of rowing power!

Camping in the jungle was the highlight of our trip. Despite the torrential rains and millions of misquitos, Alex and Lucho gave us a real insight into jungle survival and always put our needs first. Favorite moments include: canoeing at night with hundreds of glowing disco bugs and a symphony of frogs, catching piranhas for our night supper, swinging from a vine Tarzan style and trying to pee whilst balancing between the canoe and a tree root!

Due to our guides being native to the jungle, we learned much about the medicinal properties of plants and a lot about the animal and insect life. Over the six days we saw monkeys, pink and grey dolphins, tarantulas, wild dogs, moon rats, an armadillo and loads of birds.
